Project Details
Description
The introduction of automated-decision-making tools into air-traffic control requires new approaches to ensuring safety within the context of complex human-machine interactions. Existing validation methods require highly sophisticated simulation exercises to be run within dedicated physical environments featuring skilled personnel, specialised facilities and equipment that are resource and time intensive to set up and deliver. This project will focus on assessing the feasibility of using ‘Wizard of Oz’ techniques to develop and test a prototype tool (where the automated-decision-making processes will be simulated manually, rather than fully developing automated components) with end-users early on in development.
This a demonstrator project funded by the Assuring Autonomy International Programme.
