Abstract

The Cave Project focus is the research and development of a WWW based design automation framework. The framework architecture is based on the client-server model, so it distributes the framework resources among client and server sides of the network. To define the design automation tools distribution on the network, tools are divided in two groups, regarding the level of designer interaction with each tool.

This paper describes the implementation and integration of some CAD tools according to the Cave standards. Interactive tools were developed using Java language and non-interactive tools were encapsulated and integrated to the framework using servlets.
