Abstract
The paper describes a low-cost, multi-channel analogue transputer interface with the capacity to service each of 16 input/output pairs at up to a 7 kHz sample rate. Fewer channels may be sampled at a concomitant higher frequency and multi-rate sampling is possible. The interface provides four Inmos links for connection to other transputers. Therefore, network topology remains flexible, as minimal limitations are imposed by the input/output system. Although several interface systems are commercially available, to the authors' knowledge, no competitively-priced packages offer the resolution and speed required.
