Abstract

Unintentional coupling between conductors in screened enclosures is a potential problem in many ER IC test procedures, and is not well understood due to its highly complex nature, This short paper presents an analytical approach to the simulation of the coupling, This coupling becomes significant between widely spaced conductors where a screened enclosure or shield confines energy, An equivalent circuit analysis is described that is used to simulate coupling due to transverse electromagnetic, transverse electric and transverse magnetic mode propagation between two conductors in a rectangular screened enclosure. The analysis enables a separate view of each coupling mechanism, The advantages of using an equivalent circuit model as an alternative to numerical methods of electromagnetic are briefly discussed.
