Abstract
A derivation of analytical formulae is proposed for the resolvents (Green-function matrices) of linear operators represented by tridiagonal symmetric periodic matrices of arbitrary order. Applications to model studies of local vibrations and local electronic states in one-dimensional clusters, resulting from local perturbations, have been considered in the framework of the tight-binding approximation.
