Child poverty and social exclusion in South Africa

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The chapter is divided into three parts. In the first part, we explain how we constructed the measures of poverty and social exclusion that we used. In the second part, we analyse the characteristics of children who are poor and socially excluded, using data from the 2005 South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS). Third, we explore how the prevalence of child poverty and social exclusion changed between 2003 and 2005.
