Costs of being in work: a review of literature and research

Research output: Book/ReportCommissioned report

Abstract

This report presents a review of literature and research exploring the financial costs people incur moving into, and staying in work. The review includes information on start-up, travel, childcare and other costs encountered when in work. The report also discusses the potential offered by existing data sources for providing ongoing information about the costs people incur whilst in work.

The review is based on information from three main sources, published material including academic and research literature, information available from large government-sponsored surveys, and other research commissioned by the DSS.
