Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) measurement in detecting late-onset invasive infection in newborn infants. To investigate heterogeneity of test accuracy in the included studies. Possible sources of heterogeneity include the cut-off value used to define CRP positivity, use of other bio-markers that make affect thresholds for treatment or other investigations, and the reference standard (Investigations of heterogeneity).
