Abstract
The temperature variation of the ac and dc susceptibility has been studied for a range of laboratory-prepared ferrofluids as a function of particle size and distribution. The ac study was found to be sensitive to particle clustering and aggregation. Large particles and aggregates present in the dispersions are found to cause deviation from classical behaviour.
