This paper is part of the work of the Chronic Disorders of Consciousness Group (CDoC) with Celia Kitzinger and Sarah Nettleton (both Sociology), Simon Halliday (Law) and Alice Hall (English and Related Literature). The group is exploring catastrophic brain injuries resulting in conditions such permanent vegetative state and minimally conscious state, from various disciplinary perspectives.
