Abstract

The purpose of the work was to provide policy makers in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) a set of recommendations for an improved, decentralised, evidence-based process for selecting primary level student teachers for admission into Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) in Malawi. The project built on the recommendations from the 2016 report ‘Selection of student teachers for primary teacher education’ and was developed in a four-week period by two consultants working with MoEST, DTED, GIZ-BEP and representatives from TTCs in Malawi.
