Abstract
Fast intracavity tunable semiconductor lasers find their use in information acquisition systems (e.g. OCT) and may be of use in agile multiwavelength communications systems. We present numerical analysis of the dynamic behaviour of a semiconductor laser frequency swept by means of an ultrafast intracavity filter. The interrelated roles of the tuning speed, the filter bandwidth, the cavity length, and the self-phase modulation in laser dynamics are analysed.
