Abstract
This paper introduces an adaptive narrative-based learning environment (AEINS) which supports teaching in the domain of ethics and citizenship [1]. AEINS is an inquiry-based teaching system that adopts educational theories and classroom strategies, such as the Socratic Method. AEINS targets students aged 8 to 11 years. The idea is centered around presenting and involving students in different moral dilemmas (teaching moments), where the Socratic Method is used to lead the student and allows him to examine the validity of an opinion or belief. AEINS monitors and analyzes students' actions in order to provide an individualized story-path and a personalized learning process. We present preliminary evaluation results.
