N2 - This project utilises international students’ prior experience and knowledge of their own countries and engages them in research which leads to learner-generated curriculum content. The context is an M-level module on political economy for students of international business, but the approach is adaptable to various situations and disciplines. Groups of students are encouraged to undertake a mini-research project leading to a presentation and Q&A, with text and web support. Student-designed curriculum content is the hallmark of the approach. Benefits include broadening the module scope and building a repository of study material for future cohorts. It enhances the breadth and quality of module materials, and boosts learners’ motivation, confidence and key skills, especially research, presentation, teamwork, and negotiation. The project is marked by respect for student diversity, harnessing learners’ experiences and diverse cultural backgrounds.
