A recording of traditional songs, interwoven with music by emerging composers of the contemporary British scene, from a 2014 programme curated and directed by Martin Sheuregger and Chris Leedham, performed by Dark Inventions (instrumental ensemble) and Stef Conner (vocalist). Created in partnership with Sound and Music (and funded by a Sound and Music Composer/Curator Grant) the tour took Dark Inventions to venues across the North of England (8-16 May 2014). The CD takes its name from a composition by Philip Cashian, commissioned for the project with support from the Britten-Pears Foundation.
