Gender, Spectacle, and Machinery: Prix de beauté (1930)

Abstract

The article presents information on the French film "Prix de beauté" starring Louise Brooks and highlights the issues of gender, modern spectacle, trust, and cinematic machinery of 1930s addressed by the film. A brief information on the career path of Actor Louise Brooks is given. It is also stated that the film used and showcased modern transportation and communication systems of that period, including bicycle and megaphones.
