Abstract

Yeats's experiments in poetic declamation, his lecture-performances with Florence Farr, and the links between these and his relationship with Maud Gonne are presented as an early instance of artistic research, as the phrase is used today. Brooks's own composition, Everlasting Voices, which is based on all these materials, is then a further application of artistic research.
