Abstract

It is well known that multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems can provide dramatic increases in link capacity. However, these capacities are often estimated for idealized situations. In this paper we review the effects of the real electromagnetic environment, including propagation and antenna characteristics, on the capacity of these systems.
