It used to be fix-it in post production! Now it’s fix-it in pre-production: How virtual production is changing production networks in film and television

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Virtual production is a way of creating content which captures digital assets and environments ‘in camera’ and in real-time, rather than assets being added in post-production. Using the concept of the production network - a systematic way of examining a set of linked economic activities - we explore how virtual production is disrupting film and television. Work and power is shifted from post- to pre-production, companies adopting new business models and moving to new areas of the network to fill market opportunities, and new entrants are bringing skills and expertise into film and television.
