Abstract
High-resolution spectra of SrOD have been recorded using optical-optical double-resonance spectroscopy and laser excitation spectroscopy. SrOD was produced by the reaction of Sr metal vapor and D2O vapor in a Broida-type oven. The 0(0)(0) bands of the (A) over tilde (2)Pi-(X) over tilde (2)Sigma(+) and (C) over tilde (2)Pi(A) over tilde (2)Pi transitions were observed and rotationally analyzed for the first time. Combined with the previous microwave data from the literature, the present data were fitted using the usual (2)Sigma(+) and (2)Pi Hamiltonians, and spectroscopic constants were obtained for the (X) over tilde (2)Sigma(+) (000)(A) over tilde (2)Pi (000) and (C) over tilde (2)Pi (000) states of SrOD. An unusually small OH bond length was obtained for the (C) over tilde (2)Pi state, perhaps indicating that the (C) over tilde (2)Pi state of SrOH has a floppy potential similar to the ground state of MgOH.
