Abstract

A CD, concert tour and website with associated workshops that takes the art, designs and ideas of Leonardo da Vinci (in his 500th anniversary year) as a starting point. Despite Leonardo's musical credentials (his first job away from Florence seems to have been as a musician and he half-designed many musical instruments) he left no composed music. This project is a creative fantasy for his 500th anniversary year that takes the ideas behind his paintings, drawings and designs and looks for reflections of them in music. The whole is presented (whether in concert or CD) with expert contributions from Prof Martin Kemp on the art and me on the music.
