Abstract

This short film, Machine-Hamlet: To be, or not to be, casts Baxter the robot as an actor rehearsing to perform Shakespeare's play, Hamlet. One of the aims of this film was to conjure a sense of subjectivity and character for the robot. The challenge was to find performative and filmic ways to manifest this.

This film comprised one element and output of my Baxter Project.
