Abstract

Styrenes bearing unsaturated side chains at the 2-position undergo regioselective carbolithiation of the styrene unit followed by 6-exo-trig or 6-exo-dig cyclisation to produce 1,2-disubstituted tetralins or their unsaturated analogues. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
