A collection of ten chapters authored by distinguished scholars, addressing diverse socio-musical aspects of the Great War and its aftermath. The volume is organised in two large sections, with five chapters in each. Part one focuses on individuals living in Britain, France, and England, and it considers how their persona were reshaped during and after the war in response to the conflict. Part two examines a series of expanding communities, nations, and populations, revealing how their musical practices were altered and interconnected as a consequence of the war. The whole is framed and contextualised by three texts authored by the editors, which are linked but distributed at the start, the middle, and the end of the volume: Prelude, Interlude, and Postlude.
