Abstract
Local Area Coordination (LAC) is an approach to supporting people as valued citizens in their communities. It enables people to pursue their vision for a good life and to stay safe, strong, connected, healthy and in control. City of York Council (CYC) has appointed seven Local Area Coordinators to work with local residents, with plans to roll the programme out over time. In collaboration with CYC, Professor Neil Lunt and Dr Laura Bainbridge have conducted a process, formative and early outcomes evaluation of the LAC initiative to contribute to the evidence base locally, nationally and internationally. As part of the evaluation, a reportage photographer – Michael A. Wood – was commissioned to ‘walk alongside’ LAC’s in the following areas: Tang Hall, Westfield, Huntington and New Earswick. To showcase the images captured, a free photography exhibition of 30 images will tour York between February and April 2019 that is designed to celebrate people and place within each locality.
