Research output: Book/ReportOther report

Abstract

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals were held in France. The Group stages took place in June 2019. This report analyses final Group Standings and goals scored in each game predicted by three academics as well as those predicted by rolling a pair of dice.Three analyses (x, y, and z) have been undertaken and are explained below. The objective was to have a bit of fun and to see how accurately we could all predict the tournament. The idea of the ‘random dice’ was for comparison, to see if we could perform better than random chance. We acknowledge that the six-sided dicesomewhat limits the ‘random’ score but we felt it fairly unlikely that many scoreswould be higher (we were proven wrong!).
