Abstract

Presentation at the Annual Conference of National Care Leavers' Week 2014, London, 29 October 2014. In partnership with The Care Leavers’ Foundation, The Prince’s Trust has hosted this year’s Annual Conference of National Care Leavers’ Week.
Children and Families Minister, Edward Timpson MP, launched the Care Leaver Strategy one year on report. This one-year-on document reports on progress made and sets out how the government intends to further improve support for care leavers. A summary of progress on the specific commitments made in the strategy is provided in annex 1. Most of these have been met and others are on-track or ongoing.
Over 160 people attended, including young people, foster carers, social workers, personal advisers, practitioners, local government, academics, policy-makers, decision makers, commissioners, government departments and MPs. A discussion was held with a panel comprised of representatives from each of the government departments who presented their current policies and their aspirations for future care leavers policies.
