Abstract

A system for an online metaverse recording studio is described, with reference to a case study implementation of Studio 4 of the renowned BBC Maida Vale Recording Studios. The system allows multiple remote musicians to connect over a network, providing a shared virtual acoustic space, with interactive immersive audio, XR display, and low-latency throughput. Technical design is detailed, as is the process of implementation for a pilot study with the BBC, in which rock band made a live recording in the studio simulation. A discussion of the overall success of the implementation is presented
