Reverberation modelling for music production and sonic art applications: The development and creative use of a novel computer-based system for the analysis, manipulation and resynthesis of acoustic signatures (impulse responses) of rooms and other resonant objects.

Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

Ths new analysis and modelling method offers tractable high-accuracy analysis of imulse responses, often approaching that possible with much more computationally demanding matrix decomposition techniques. The model parameters can be meaningfully and expressively interacted with in music production and sonic art contexts. The sonic quality of audio outputs is very high across a wide range of parameter changes and other interactions with the model. In many cases real-time interaction is possible. This portfolio incorporates a number of outputs and that are associated with this work, including a software demonstrator, a commercial software plug-in based on the system, and examples of its application for sonic art and music recording.
