Abstract

The character of Bond has always been a fashion icon, but in A View to a Kill it is Grace Jones’s henchwoman May Day, outfitted in a range of striking designs by couture designer Azzedine Alaia, who makes the biggest fashion statement. In this chapter, we explore these outfits in detail and consider them in relation to the costuming of the other characters in order to show the importance of clothing to character, action and story.
