Abstract
Specific evidence concerning the musical repertoire of Queen Henrietta Maria’s chapel is scant, but recent research on music manuscripts and details about their scribes and patrons has revealed an intriguing possibility: that the Queen, in her private services, was treated to the most up-to-date Italian and Italianate sacred music. The Queen’s musical patronage is thus shown in a progressive light.
