Abstract

The high spin yrast structure of I117 has been studied with the Al27+94Mo reaction at 129 MeV. Three structural features have been identified: (i) coexisting prolate (=0°) and oblate (=-60°) collective shapes involving the h11/2 orbital, (ii) noncollective oblate (=+60°) shapes associated with band termination, and (iii) a delayed h11/2 crossing frequency in the [550]1/2- yrast band.
