Stories about a story teller: Reading the radical in scenes from the 'Disastrous' life of Georgina Weldoni

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This article explores some of the boundaries between fact and fiction in recent biographical depictions of the life of singing spiritualist and lay lawyer Georgina Weldon (1837-1914). 'Radical' is a difficult term to define, apply and live up to in any life. The problematics of applying this descriptor to Georgina Weldon are debated in the context of a critique of Brian Thompson's representation of Weldon's life as 'disastrous'.
