N2 - NaF, KF, RbF and CsF have been adsorbed onto alumina and the resulting reagents have been analysed by IR and 19F magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy. The results show that MF reacts with the alumina surface to form AlF6 3-, and CO3 2- is formed as a byproduct due to the adsorption and reaction of atmospheric CO2.
