Abstract
The magnetisation curves of two ferrofluids have been measured in the temperature range 3.6-300 K. The measurements show superparamagnetic behaviour above the freezing points of the fluids as demonstrated by the superposition of magnetization curves measured at different temperatures when plotted versus H/T. In the solid, however, superposition is not observed since anisotropy barriers are presented. A theory describing this behaviour is presented.
