Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

Abstract

The seminar will be chaired by Elaine Chase (University of Oxford) and speakers include Judith Dennis (Refugee Council), Professor Ravi Kohli and Dr Patricia Hynes (University of Bedfordshire), Jim Wade (University of York) and Charlotte Melander (University of Gothenberg, Sweden). It will also feature input from several care experienced migrant young people, foster carers and practitioners. The seminar will also feature five posters from current PhD students from four different countries. Presentations will include current and relevant research which includes summaries of 'best evidence’ on effective provision and interventions to date highlighting any innovative approaches with future potential. Together with the Universities of Bedfordshire and Gothenburg and the Department of Social Policy at the University of Oxford, the Rees Centre has been awarded a grant by the Economic and Social Research Council to run a seminar series over two years.

This seminar is the fourth in a very successful series on teenagers in foster care and the adults who support them. The seminars bring together researchers, policy-makers, care experienced people, foster carers and practitioners. There is a strong emphasis on discussion and knowledge exchange throughout the day.
