Abstract

This research focuses on Sustainable Supply Chains in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector in China. The literature review covers sustainability, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility as well as the trends in the sustainable supply chain management. The methodology consists on qualitative semi-structure interviews with managers, employees and consumers knowledgeable in sustainable supply chain management in Chinese FMCG organizations. The findings show that large FMCG organizations have set sustainability goals to adopt a series of actions on managing their supply chain, while some small FMCG organizations do not have enough capability to implement them. Furthermore, the developing trend for the sustainable supply chain is towards the use of the advanced technologies for increasing competitive advantage. A discussion of results is provided in the light of recent literature findings as well as some future research avenues are proposed.
