Abstract

An emission spectrum of the water molecule at a temperature of 1550 degrees C has been recorded in the range from 373 to 933 cm(-1). More than 4000 pure rotational lines were observed with the strongest belonging to the ground state (000) and the first excited bending vibrational level (010). Transitions involving rotational quantum numbers J and K-a significantly higher than previously recorded have been assigned. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
