The Future Needs of Retiring Clergy: Final report for the Church of England Pensions Board

Research output: Book/ReportCommissioned report

Abstract

This report is a summary of the findings of a research project designed to explore the future housing needs and aspirations of retiring clergy.
The CEPB commissioned the research in order to plan effectively for the future, and to facilitate a transparent debate within the wider Church about the costs and affordability of its housing ‘offers’, notably the Church’s Housing Assistance for Retired Ministry (CHARM). In order to inform this debate the Board was seeking to understand the characteristics, views and aspirations of those members of the clergy who will be retiring over the next 15 years or
so, but especially of those due to retire in the next 5 years. The research focused specifically on those who may require housing assistance and related kinds of support from the CEPB. The research took place between March and October 2012.
