The Walk to the Tarn: for pianist

William Brooks (Composer)

Research output: Non-textual formComposition

This ten-minute piece focuses on the pianist's hands, captured live on video and projected for the audience on a screen above the player. The hands limn the boundary between mimetic gesture and embodied pianistic technique; they tell the story of the walk, and they negotiate between two legendary teachers, Abby Whiteside and Rosina Lhévinne.
