Abstract
Hierarchical Mobile IPv4 provides micromobility enhancements for the original Mobile IPv4 standard. However, as the size of wireless cells decreases, the macro-mobility (or inter-domain handoff) case becomes more common. We propose a fast inter-domain handoff algorithm to provide efficient macro-mobility management and present the simulation results. Our scheme reduces the home registration latency and hence minimizes the disruption caused by macro-mobility handoffs for both downlink and uplink packet streams.
