Bibliographical note

This is the scholarly catalogue to accompany the exhibition ‘Theo van Doesburg and the International Avant-Garde: Constructing a New World’ held in Leiden and London in 2009-10. It features seven essays, including one of my own (pp 68-75), written by authors from The Netherlands, France, Hungary and the UK, excerpts of Van Doesburg’s writings, a chronology of the artist’s career and a bibliography. I assisted in commissioning the essays, edited their content, devised the structure of the catalogue, advised on its design, compiled and translated the excerpts (pp 77, 125, 161 and 187), and produced the bibliography. My position as Consultant Editor mirrored my role as Consultant Curator of the exhibition.
