Abstract

The high optical field intensity of a propagating wave within a waveguide is used to detect low levels, down to 20 ppm, of polyenes in degraded PVC using resonance Raman spectroscopy. An analysis of the waveguide resonance Raman spectra enables an estimation of the polyene sequence distribution within the degraded polymer sample.
