Abstract

This was a contribution to a workshop on handicap held in Stockholm. It gives a brief outline of the concept of working memory and discusses its potential usefulness in analysing the problems of communication in the handicapped. The argument is supported by discussion of the application ofthe working memory framework to the understanding of developmental dyslexia.
