Biography

I have degrees from Maastricht University (BSc in Cognitive Psychology, 2005; MSc in Psychology and Law, Cum Laude, 2006; LLM in Forensics, Criminology, and Law, 2008; PhD in Statistics Education / Educational Psychology, 2012) and a degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (MSc in Quantitative Analysis in the Social Sciences, Magna Cum Laude, 2012). Through combinations of an international working environment, language coursework, and travel: I have working experience in English, Dutch, German and Spanish; I can maintain conversations in French, Italian and Romanian; and I have basic communication skills in a few other languages including Russian and Portuguese. I worked as a consultant in methodology and statistics, postdoctoral researcher in education and assistant professor in methodology and statistics at Maastricht University until I moved to the United Kingdom early 2019. I have been a visiting researcher and visiting lecturer in several universities in Australia (2015), Canada (2015, 2016), Germany (2017) and Spain (2016, 2017, 2019), have been an editorial board member of several journals, and am currently employed by the University of York as Academic Lead and Director of Assessment, Chair of the Undergraduate Board of Examiners, and Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at Hull York Medical School.
